Fuel Pump Relay on 00 Mustang
Where the hell is the fuel pump relay on my car? Ive been told....under the dash in the fuse box on driver side...EH WRONG, fuse box under hood....EH WRONG, under dash on passenger side in kick panel area....EH WRONG, under front fender on passenger side...EH WRONG! wtf? and the fuse box suggestions came from the damn dealers around here! Can ANYONE tell me where this damn thing is hiding?
Blonde Chick:
The constant current relay module (CCRM) has a relay for the pump. You can find the CCRM behind the fender liner on the passenger side. Can you hear the fuel pump come on for a second or two when you turn the key to ON (warning lights come on) but not to START? There is an inertia switch, too, that is in the trunk behind the trim panel on the driver side, just 'around the corner' from the tailight. There's a 20A yellow fuse in the engine bay panel. It's the one that is nearest the fender, the one near the engine is the PCM fuse.
HTH,
Chris

What I was given...theres no place for it under the fender on the passenger side. I know about the switch in the trunk. The 20A yellow fuse is fine. I was told to start with the cheapest thing first which is the fuel pump relay so I bought 1 and no one knows where it goes. The problem may not even be the relay. But the issue Im having is that my car wont always start when its cold outside. It turns over it just wont start. If I wait 10-15 minutes and try to start it...it starts right up. And its not an every day thing...only seems to happen when I have plans & need to be somewhere! Go figure!

Sorry, I should have asked for the year of your car because it sounds like you don't have a '96 to '04 GT, lol. So, what year and model (V6, GT, Cobra), please? Do you have a Haynes manual (less than $20 at Autozone or Borders Books)? It will have the location of the FP relay and a how-to about replacing it. Chilton's manual will do the same but it is more generic (imo).
The advice to start with the easy stuff is good. You might want to put a pressure gauge on the fuel line (after the pump, of course) to confirm that the pump is working well. Even before you do that, have you put a fresh fuel filter on recently? They're cheap and I usually replace mine every15k miles whether it needs it or not. There's a sock filter on the fuel pump (on the'96 to '04 models) and it can get clogged ifthe tank is run to "almost dry" frequently (no flame intended).

yeah the relays in the fuse box arent the right ones. i found a diagram online for the layout of the fuse boxes under the hood & dash and under the hood...the only "fuel pump relay" is a fuse. damn fords!!!
Hey Blonde Chick,
I have the same problem as you. I need to find the location of the fuel pump relay on my 2000 mustang V6 3.8L. Have you found it yet? I tried all the locations you mentioned in your original post. Please let me know if you found it. And I will do the same if I find it. Thank you.
