Default What is involved in an engine (block) rebuild?

Excluding the heads+components, what is involved in rebuilding an engine block and crankshaft? I understand getting it bored is common, but is any machining of the maincaps and/or rod journals done? What sort of work can be done to the crankshaft? Would one normally get the deck milled? If so, I would want the stock deck height...what is the minimum amount it can be milled? Any and all tips recommended!
