Default price on '04 mustang?

hey everyone...im thinking about buying an 04 40th anniv. mustang from someone i know. it is in great shape and it only has about 18k miles on it. auto transmission, hard top, spoiler, no mods, 3.8L v6, garaged, non-smoker, stock red paint
i am going to take it for a test drive this week and see about everything, but:
what's the price i should pay for this car? This guy bought it for $12,000 about 3 months ago (he was the second owner)
KBB says about $11k, and ebay and NADA say similar prices (no more than $12000). any help from my mustang lovers on here?

Default RE: price on '04 mustang?

I just picked up an 04 myself a week ago. not a bad car though I'm a much bigger fan of foriegn cars! I got an 04 Convert. 3.9L w/ 80k. It is fully loaded except for heated seats and I paid $7300, which I thought was a great price. I had to replace a tire (only because the tire type was a mis-match from the other three. Also, had to put back rotors, brakes and gave it an oil change w/ full synthetic oil. Other then that car appears to be ok.

As for the one your looking at, depending on what that car has (option wise) I wouldn't pay more then mid 9's at best! If he were to trade it in a dealer would only give him about 9k for it on a good day. I just looked in my "Official Black Book" (this is what dealers go buy when they go to auctions). It tells them what they can sell a car for and my book says $10,400, so you should expect to be less then that since it is private party sale. Now the owner may think your crazy, but trust me I know the car business in and out (i used to work in the business) I always get my cars for well under wholesale.Thats what you could get one for. Also, make sure you ran an autocheck or carfax on it, just to be safe. You never know what your getting, so thats the least you can do!

Good Luck..!

i bought my 04 for a little over 8,000. it was actually a little less than 8 but i had the dealer put on new tires and brake pads and i had to pay for the tires. it didn't have much options and had 60k.

Wally, it's his loss someday he will come back to reality!

I don't know what area you live i, but I used the following site for shopping. http://www.automotive.com/It appeared to have all the same listings as www.cars.com, www.autotrader.com, and www.autoextra.com all in one place. I know near me in PA there was the following car for sale. It looked pretty nice and he was able to move on the price alittle, but after all he was including a warranty and free tires for the life of the car.

http://www.getauto.com/autolinks_car...y-/x_dealer_id-

There wasanother one I found and the price was insanly cheap, but I didn't want to spend that much or drive to VA and get it. Car was a 2003 (i think) GT convert. for $9995 about 70k miles on it.

Well, good luck w/ hunting one down and remember be patient!
