Exactly. you have to be sure that the PCM is reset.

Without knowing exectly what motor you have I can only share some of my other expriences with other ford issues. number one what code are you getting. P0401? The 4.6/5.4L trucks are REALLY bad about setting this code due to cloged EGR passageways into the intake preventing flow of the exhaust gas. On platic intakes this generaly doesn't happen. Another think is if you have a DPFE sensor. (small box with an electrical connetor and 2 hoses running from it to the EGR tube) They are really bad about failing and setting this code. Make sure that the hoses are not borken or have fallin off. Only way to test the sensor is with a meter but I don't know which if the 3 wires is the signal wire off hand other wise I could tell you what to test

Easy fix. Replace the DPFE. lol. Remove it and tap it on something hard, water will come out of it. Fords number one problem, they set it up wrong ( sensor ) so it collects water from the exhaust, and it gets trapped in there.

I already described it. It's usualy mounted on teh intake. small box with an electrical connetor and 2 hoses running from it to the EGR tube. Just look for the EGR tube and follow the rubber hoses. thats your DPFE sensor

That doesn't mean that it's not bad... only way to know is to have a scan. If the tech knows what to look for they should be able to know if it's bad. usualy the voltage sticks high.
