Default Backfirining Problem

I just got my new clutch put in and thought it was the problem and would fix it but when i push in on the gas it wants to die on me and starts backfiring. Wondering what the problem was thankls

I would start with the TPS. Check a manual like Haynes or better. They have a procedure for checking it. I think you measure 0.5 at idle and up to .99 ohms or volts (can't remember which) at full throttle. Someone else here with manual handy or a good memory will probably respond with the correct figures. The mechanical culprits could be ignition or cam timing...also check the fuel pressure. You can check it initially by just turning the key to the on position with gauge hooked up on the fuel rail at the schrader valve. Good luck.

Another simple thing to check is for fouled plugs.

check easy things first.. replace cap wires plugs etc
