Default fiberglass vs metal

wanted to know what everyone's opinion on fiberglass parts....I am planning on making my 89 GT into a 10 or 11 second car....full roll cage on all the extras that go along with it....I am dropping weight on the car right now and want to know about possibly fiberglass doors and hatch....I will be getting a new cowl fiberglass hood...I figure I can drop a few hundred pounds with changing the k member, eliminating a/c, front swaybar, relocating battery to the trunk, etc....Will I be too light though if I go with fiberglass pieces...

Don't trust the latch alone, put hood pins on. the glass flexes too much and pops up.

hes right its too expensive to replace a cowl due to a hood flying up, get some 10$ insurance and put hood pins on it

you can never get a race car too light IMO. less weight means less power needed to get lower ET's. and the roll cage will certainly add some weight to the car for sure too.

Personally I don't like fiberglass. I've seen enough videos of a fiberglass car hitting something small and flying apart. However, carbonfiber is too expensive, so I guess fiberglass is pretty good for its cost.

But definately get pins, just in case.

And if you have the money, look into aluminum or titanium metal replacement parts. Hmm titanium block, that sounds sweet.
