Default 1966 Engine

Hello I HAVE a 1966 Fastback 289 with a/c and power brakes......If I want to install a crate engine is there a size I can not use?????? 302???351???? thanks if anyone can help or any sugestions on where to get a good crate.....

You can use the 289/302/351 engines, they are basicly the same but I don't think you can use the FE engines 360/390/427 or the big block 429/460 without serious modifications

You can drop a 351 in there no problem!With a big Block you would need serious mods as in cutting out the shock towers,etc,etc!You will get a lot more power out of a 351!You can get them at a lot of different places with lots of different setups it depends on what you want!Good Luck with it![8D]

Thank u for the info.......would I have to make alot of change to the exhaust....I do have y headers now....any thoughts on the 302 boss????

BOSS 302 is a Great motor!! A 289 and 302 are basically the same Block,different compression ratio,An original 69/70 Boss302 is Hard to Find.The difference in the Comp ratio from a reg 302 to a boss302 is 9.5/1 to 10.5/1.Whatever you decide as long as its a Small block Ford V8 you should have no problem with the exhaust!!
