Default quick question, but need help NOW please

my brother locked the keys in my dads truck and its still running. it will be a few hours before we can open it up, so we would like to shut it off. (hood is open) whats the safest way of doing this? can we pull the wire in the middle of the distributor to shut it off? will i get shocked?
thanks.

I would pull the fuel pump relay myself.. no shocking and no extra fuel being added.

on that year look on the firewall. It might be mounted there. otherwise look in teh fuse/relay center. It's not going to run lean, it's going to sputter and die. but at least you know that your not dumping more fuel in. is it a TBI motor? you could also pull the air cleaner off and pull the 2 injector connectors off.

Hey, here is your answer: Unplug your battery, and then quickly your alternator--the car will die in seconds. Let us know what happened!

DO NOT unhook a battery on a running or key on car that has a computer control system. Voltage spike= dead PCM

With the key on you still face potential PCM death. All of the systems are still active right now. if you yank the battery you could produce a voltage spike that can short any of the systems or even the PCM itself.. Have you ever poped a lock on a GM? it's easy. Just bend a coat hanger so the end has a little U shape and strighten the rest of it out. Gently pry on the door to give you a little room. insert the hanger un past the hande near where you see the lock cyl. Go just under the cyl and yank up. That will disengauge the lock and let you in.

You have a couple of hours to get it before your battery dies. you can pull the some of the fuses and relays to shut off some things. just don't pull any fuses labled PCM, BATT or the like
