MAF meters how much air is taken in, speed density guesses how much is taken in based on engine vacuum. speed density gets finnicky whenever you mod it a lot because it doesn't know exactly how much air is coming in

Is it?? If that's the case then why did Ford switch from SD to MAF back in '88?

Hmmm, So nitrous is out of the question then huh? What do I need to do to convert to MAF. I just picked up an 86 GT vert and I plan to do as many mods as I can afford.

The switch was nothing to do with power. They were better able to deal with tightening emissions with MAF. Power is almost the same. Wheel dyno's prove it. Most every Mustang out there dynoing 195-205hp PEAK. The SD cars seem to have an edge in power under the curve. The average torque is higher, peak the same.

This is just a theory and my belief also stems from the fact I've seen lots of 87-88's run 99-101mph. Most MAF cars are mid 90's.
