what is your guys opinion what year was the mustang made the best as far as performance goes.

 

bang for the buck, i would say the new mustang's.

the new GT has a stock rating (crank?) 300hp and 25 highway mpg............
name one other car that does that

but i like all mustang for there certain resons.

i dont really like the soft and girlie looking mustangs that were after the foxbody's, and between the 05 mustangs.

but thats my opinion, alot of ppl like them.


fav bang for your buck i think is the fox bodys.
i got mine for 5100, if i put another $5k in it, it would be top notch, and i would only have $10k invested.

 

They seem to get faster every year but as far as dominance 87-93.

1969, best looking.

87-93 Compared to other performance cars of the era. Mustang 5L's ruled the road and dragstrips.

Blown Cobra's are borderline exotic. Almost up there with Vipers and Vettes.

05-07. Came a long way. Imagine telling someone 15 years ago what was coming out in 2005 and they would say, no way.

I know it's not what you asked but mid 70's was surely years that Mustangs were not proud to own cars.

 

Yeah you see more fox body mustangs on the strip than any other style of mustangs. That might be something to think about.

 

yeah b/c they're the cheapest to buy and cheap to build, not to mention fairly common and light weight.


My personal favorite is the 03/04 Cobra for looks/performance.

 

yea fox are the cheapest and easiest to work on. ive had several mustangs, 65, 68, 73, 88, 01. i really love the old mustangs and my 01 was really nice but i kinda riced it with the body kit and stuff. but as far as performance my 88 gt by far. the best"production" mustangs ever are the new ones though.depends on what type of money you are looking at spending and how in depth you want to go

 

The best all around performance mustang to date I would say is the Terminator Cobra.

The fox is cheap, easy to work on, and light which is why they are very prominent in the drag racing comunity.

The new 05+ are great platforms to build on, but for the price, I'd just get a termie.

I love the classics for their looks, not as much their performance. Of course there were exceptions (like the BOSS 302 and such) but to get a 60's era mustang to perform all around as well as a stock 99-04 or even a 05+ is a huge project and will cost lots of money.

 

if you got the money..03/04 cobra hands down.

 

I would say the 03/04 cobras just because of the strenght of there internals. Dnt really know to much about the new shelbys but theyre expensive and heavy. if it was for a drag car tho foxes (the notchs especially) are light and cheap to buy

 

I have owned over 30 foxes and sore I would never buy any other mustang until I drove my buddy 96 cobra and I fell in love with the ride of the SN cars. So I bought me a 94 cobra!!! But my all time favorite is the 03-04 cobra!!!
