Default newb with PROBLEMS

I bought a 94 Mustang GT 5.0 about 6 months back. Super clean car. 189,000 miles on it, with motor rebuilt at 125,000. About 3 weeks ago im driving down the freeway and the car shuts off out of nowhere. Right before this happened my RPM's spiked, no initial pull in the car as if it wanted to take off though. I pulled over to the side of the freeway, waited about 20 minutes and the carstarted rightback up and drove fine. Earlier this week im on my way to work and the exact same thing happens again, except this timethe carwont start at all. Its been 4 days now. The car cranks like it wants to start, but the engine will not turn over. Any suggestions at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

one of my buddies mentioned something about a module inside the distributor? i had the vehicle in for diagnostic check and they said that there was no spark ... wanted 900 bucks to change the distributor. I laughed quite hard when they told me the price

Yea my '86 5.0 died the same way, when the distributor module fried[:@] The part itself isn't too expensive,, change it out yourself. maybe do a spark check first to verify your problem is in the ignition

I tried to order the part when it initially happend, but when i went to pick it up the had a ignition module pulled to the side for me. Not the one that goes in the distributor, but the one on the wheelwell, below the air filter. Do you happen to know the name of the part. Im in hawaii and they dont didly d1ck about fixing cars here.

its the pickup in your distributor and/or the ignition control module.... gets hott and craps the bed... get the pickup in the distributor checked and fixed

how i know??

had a STOCK 95 GT come into work... when it got hott. it would randomly stall...and i mean randomly...test drove for an hour..no stall..next day right when it got hott....BAM stalled on me... turned out we checked all power grounds in ignition system...was a bitch and found out pickup in distributor was cutting out...

not saying tis your problem..but with what im seeing..wouldnt hurt to check it out
