I was setting my timing at 10btc and the car ran really lousey and so I move it to maybe 20btc and it sounds better. What do I have wrong here, do I need to move the distributor gear one tooth? I did remove the spout plug to do this.
Thanks!
Ed
You can do a down and dirty timing job by setting the timing at some setting that gives a good idle, then take 'er for a ride.If it doesn't knock under acceleration, pull over and turn it a little more.Repeat untill you get a knock under hard acceleration then back off a degree at a time untill the knock goes away. You can then get out the timing light and see what the timing is now set at.
