if it's only in second or third gear, my car does it to. I heard it was the shifter or something else in the tranny. It's not big deal. My friends car does it too.

if you have aftermarket gears, and they were improperly installed then they will whine.

mine did that for a while and then stopped on its own. people thought i had a blower. i think it was a vaccum leak, check around the intake area for vaccum leaks. I think some MAF and CAI's make a whistling noise. my pro m bullet whine a little bit while cruising.

Also depends on your intake.. My Trick Flow intake whistles like a blower, sounds kind of cool though, and when I shut off my engine, you can hear all of the air rush out of the intake..

i have a bigass flex-lite fan that sounds like a blower too. Maybe u have an aftermarket fan. But it could be all these things....probably the trickflow intake is the answer.

My alternator bearing makes the same noise as a blower and people think im chaged all the time. I know this sounds bad, but ive ran the same alternator for the last 20k miles and the bearing hasnt gone out yet. i kinda like it, but it is like false advertising.

mine does this also, but it may be because the oil in my A/C is probably gone and I don't have any lines hooked up to the compressor.
my air pump did this too.

mine would only do it in 3rd gear at 2000rpm and shortly after my clutch went, now i have a king cobra clutch and no whine.
