hello everyone, here's a tricky one for you. car has 108,500 miles. runs fine, idles slightly rough, but drives ok. no hesitation, etc. hard to start after sitting awhile. cranks & cranks till it starts. does this hot or cold, doesn't matter. just put new iac on today. engine is stock. is this just characteristic of this engine? started this at about 60,000 miles. no check engine light. plugs & wires are maybe 1- 1 /2 years old.(motorcraft) any ideas whatsoever? getting frustrated with this. thanks for the ideas in advance. have looked in previous posts, but most mention the iac, which i replaced. thanks again.

 

whens the last time you did a thorough tune up? (oil change, fuel filter, air filter, plugs, dizzy cap, etc._

 

hey ford guy, new plugs & wires @ 85,000 miles. air filter last summer, fuel filter a year ago. think maybe coil packs are causing it?

 

go ahead and replace the fuel filter. it might be gummed up from some bad fuel or something. also dump a bottle of fuel injector cleaner into your tank next time you get gas. can you hear the fuel pump prime the motor when you turn the key to the run position?

 

fill up on Shell "V" power and see if that helps...you never know.
