need some serious help!!!
hey everyone, I am getting some serious noise through my speakers when my engine is running. Here's the setup. I have my headunit and dvd player hooked up to an amp through split rca cables. i only get the engine noise when both of them are plugged in. unplug the rca's of either and the noise stops. unplug power from dvd and the noise stops. no noise when the engine is off. the noise increases with rpm increase. I tried running a ground loop isolater, but that didn'y work. I tried running the headunit through the inputs of the dvd player and that didn't work. I even bought one of those audio/video selectors for a home theater that lets you select the source signal and that didn't work. Anybody have any ideas on what else I could check? Any input would really be appreciated. Thanks.
It's electrical noise. Not sure what the ground loop isolator is. Run a seperate ground from the head unit chassis to the noisy accessory.
Also - make sure your RCAs don't run parallel with any power wires - if they have to cross then do so at 90 degree angles.

Are you sure its running hot? Have you put a real temp gauge on it? What's your ignition timing set at?Does it run hot when sitting still and go away when driving or revving up, or is it hot all the time? How hot is it getting... wow soo many questions
I know what it is! Or i might, if u look on the front of ur EDIS or distributorless, if u don't know what that is follow plug wires from ur plugs to what it goes to if it isn't a distribitor then there u go in the front there should be a plug in and coming off of that should be a gray clip/wire if it is pluged in i don't know but that fixed it on my car.
