hello i wanted to get some feed back. i have a 1973 mustang fastback right now it has hedman header and stock h pipe exhaust i wanted to get flowmasters for it. should i go with H, X or just straght pipe since i dont have to worry smog any more. and should i keepit 2 1/2 inch pipe or should i go 3 inch ??? please help!!!

 

i believe a x-pipe will give you a raspier tone... h more of a rumble.
you want some connection between the left and right side to equalize pressure.
this is only what i've heard... so don't take my word on it. haha

 

H pipe generally sounds better on any chambered muffler system. X is really raspy and you may not like it. Straight pipes I believe rob you of some torque, so go H pipe in my opinion.

 

yes i had a 73 grande and i tried using straight pipes x pipe and h pipe. h pipe sounded best to me by far. had a much deepr sound andlike stated abovesounds better with 2 chamber mufflers like flowmasters ect.you wont really notice HP/torque difference between them tho. also if you go three inch pipes you might lose backpressure thats needed. i was told not to go bigger than 2.5 if running dual pipes

i have had h-pipe on my 87 lxand now i have an off road x-pipe on my 85 gt and i like the sound better ,with magnaflow catbackgo with 2 1/2 exhaust
