removing the screen will give you no noticable power. trim or remove the boot, and put a K+N in and you have the same measely gains as a 200$ intake.
That's why you pick up one on ebay for $40-$50.

Like mentioned it's been dyno proven that by removing the air silencer you do pick up HP, many people say to remove the silencer and install a K&N but I wanted to get rid of my ugly intake pieces.
My exact reasoning also!

Watch out for cheap e-bay CAI's. Some have fallen apart from engine heat/vibrations & suddenly you have NO air filter [:@] engine sucking in filthy air

I'ts been said that you can get just as much gain from trimming your silencer and removing the screen from the MAF.
This does lean the mixture somewhat so listen for detonation after you do this.
I would keep your screen in place. My car ran like crap after I took mine out.
5.0s are much different from 4.6s so maybe that's why you had issues, I took mine out many years ago with no noticable difference.

Alright, thanks for the reply!

That makes about where the air is pulled from also.

I never could see how you would gain so much hp, just by adding it.

I already have a k&n air filter, what did you say i should trim?
