Default Tranny Help

I have a 5.0 just installed with a AOD, the motor and tranny were never seperated when installed. But once installed and engine fired up, the car wont go anywhere. I shifted through all gears and not one work, fluid levels are good. The car was originally a 5spd. Please help!!!

Assuming your driveshaft is hooked up, and your shifter linkage more importantly. It sounds like some backyard mechanic installed your torque converter wrong. It's been a while since i put one in, but it's either 3 or 4 complete spins on the in put shaft back and forth in opposite directions. You should feel the torque converter gradually slide into place. you should do this before you put the bell housing up to the motor, but it can be done under the car and on jack stands if you have no money like me. I would check shifter linkage and inquire about the torque converter. Did you hear any strange sounds when you started the car, maybe a metal rubbing when it's running. Also not to be an a$$, but did you remember to bolt the torque converter to the flexplate. You wouldn't believe the type of people I run into that think they are master mechanics but forget simple things. Let me know

Sorry, I didn't completely read your post first, There are a few more steps in converting from a 5 spd. Did a reputable mechanic set the motor and tranny up?
