LEAK?

RE: LEAK?
what you would hear from a vacuum leak would be a hissing noise like air through a tube, you can use a short tube, vacuum line or something similar and hold it up to your ear as you probe along the vacuum lines while the engine is running, thats the hard way, or you can spray carb cleaner on all the hose ends and the areas between the upper to lower intake and listen for the idle to rise.

RE: LEAK?
i dont think i have a vaccum leak bc i hear a high pitch noise when its cold but when it warms up it goes away and idle fine. i know one of my problems is the TPS bc the setting is at 4.92 volts and it wont come down and i have tried everything i can think of.

RE: LEAK?
a high pitched whine could be the bearings in the alternator beginning to fail. remove the drive belt and run the engine a bit to see if the noise goes away. if it does, then it's a bearing on something being driven by the drive belt. if not, then it could be a vacuum leak or pressure leak from the smog pump.
