got a 88 gt, my wont start unless i give it a little gas. once it does start i need to slowly release the throttle or else it will stall. once i let go the idle jump up and down and settle out eventually, so i dont think its the timing. sometimes if i idle it above one for a few seconds and very gradually bring it down it stays at normal idle. i got some learnin to do and dont know where to begin thinking, any help would be appriciated

 

IAC, Idle Air Controller Valve.

TPS, Throttle Position Sensor.

Take a look at your fuel filter too.

 

i had that problem and it was the O2 sensors so i would check them first

to check them just unplug them at the connector and start the car and if the car runs better with them unplugged then they are your problem.

 

o2 ..tps switch..check for vacum leaks will do that..
