i have a 2000 GT and every now and then the coolant light comes on.....it'll stay on for a couple days and then it'll go off for a day or two then come back. in the winter it comes on every time i start the car. but then if it warms up a bit and i turn it off and start it back up it doesn't come on. anyone ever heard of this?

 

that means your electric fan is off , look under your hood when its on, mine is currently doing that. losers installed a new electirc fan motor and wires and must have goofed

 

if the fan was off shouldn't it start to overheat? it never does.

 

you would think that, but mine didnt tonight when i was driving 7+ miles then it kicked back on.

 

Mine does that sometimes... I just shut the car off and tunr it back on again and the light goes away... Eventually I did have to add more coolant though, so don't ALWAYS ignore the light.

 

might be a defective connection or fan then? the light does stay on literally for days at a time. i remember it staying on for the duration of a trip from here to MI (about 550 miles)

is youre coolant low?

could be the low coolant sensor itself as well.

2000's are notorious for intake manifold leaks...Is it leaking???

The coolant is just a bit low and is turning the light on. The tank you put coolant into is called a surge tank. The coolant surges from the radiator to the tank and causes the level to fluctuate. This is the reason for the light coming on. Just add a small amount of 50/50 mix and call it good.
