For the past week or two I noticed when I use the gas when I am backing out or in first or easing out of a stop there is the brief rattling noisy like something metal against metal under the car. It is not real loud but I cna here the difference. Someone at work said something around the exhaust may be loose but I am new to learning about "under the hood and under the car" part of my stang. Any suggestions on how I could tell what it is?

 

I have the same problem or had and it came back and went away. I haven't heard it in a while. The guy at the shop told me that it was some wiring harness that was flopping around so he said he fixed it for me. Then the noise came back. Sounded like it was one of the cats ( i had to put the stock H pipe back on and itas a peice of sh*t). So one day I accientally hit a speedbump a little hard(dught!!!) but I never heard it again. So my suggestion is to hit them with a hammer and find out which one rattles or get an X-pipe

 

i had the same problem. turned out to be a .25" socket in my ash tray, lol

 

Well, I don't have an ashtray, but I do have a hammer! lol.

 

O Snap im having the same noise like metal on metal and only sumtimes and i can never get it to do it when i want. and happens when backing and in first at low rpms. so i jacked the car up and tightened everything. My dad also thought it was the cats. but i havent heard it since i jacked the car and messed with stuff so thats prolly it.
