Default Brakes Catching Late

I have a '98 Mustang V6, and I've noticed lately that my brakes catch pretty late. For instance if it can be pressed down 6 inches, it catches after I press it down 4 inches. I added some Brake Fluid and it's a little better. Before I was afraid to drive, now I'm not that scared. But I still do wanna see if there's a problem or if I'm just being too antsy.

I changed my pads / rotors sometime last August, or September. I went to Autozone and got the normal stock ones. They have low, medium, and high quality. I picked medium for both the rotors/pads and replaced them myself. At first they were quick and right when I tapped the pedal my brakes were tight. But now, like I said, it's been getting worse and worse and I don't drive that crazy (seeing how it's a V6). I looked at the pads earlier, and from the outside they didn't look too bad. Looked like they had plent of tread left. My friend also pointed out if my pads were going bad, it wouldn't be that drastic of a change in the feel of my brake pedal.

Any suggestions that I can do / check to make sure everything's fine? For now, I think I'll stay off the main streets and take the back roads.

did you bleed the brakes when you changed the pads? if you didn,t then there is a very good chance that there is some air in your brake lines, and air compresses differently than brake fluid, therefore giving you slack in your pedal.

No I didn't. Would you mind telling me how to do that? That's probably what it is and my semi-retarded *** didn't do it. :x

I just pushed the calipers off and put the pads on, slid the calipers back on.
