I am new to the Mustang scene, but I have read that yellow was not available in 1996 or 1997. I am looking at a really nice low mileage 1996 GT convertible that is chrome yellow, but I haven't seen the paint code on the car. I have also seen other chrome yellow 1996 and 1997 Mustangs for sale on various web sites. The Yellow Mustang Registry lists one 1996 and one 1997 chrome yelow car.

Am I crazy, or is the information that no yellow cars were made in 1996 and 1997 incorrect? Either the car I am looking at is extremely rare (not supposed to any in that color) or it has been repainted. I am not interested in a repainted car.

Can anyone shed some light on this subject and educate me before I make a big mistake?

 

Not sure about chrome yellow, but yellow was available 96-97

 

Yellow was NOT available in 96/97. in 94/95 there was Canary Yellow, 98/99 there was Chrome yellow. 00-03 was Zinc Yellow, in 2004 it was Screamin Yellow.
