what happened!?!?!?!?!?
well i just came back from the track. it was a horrible day from the start. on the way there a semi almost ran me down.
my last time at the track was the following:
R/T.... .589
60'..... 2.347
330....6.429
1/8....9.592
MPH...78.74
1000....12.296
1/4......14.618
MPH....96.92
best run ever
tonight run one:
R/T.... .492
60'..... 2.387
330....6.509
1/8....9.701
MPH...77.72
1000....12.442
1/4......14.818
MPH....94.15
tonight run two:
R/T.... .560
60'..... 2.393
330....6.486
1/8....9.670
MPH...77.93
1000....12.411
1/4......14.781
MPH....94.77
sinse my last trip i put in UMI upper control arms, mega bite jr. lower arms, high stall torque coverter (2200-2400), subframes, pinion snubber, and an electric radiator fan.
so basically all those mods did nothing. my first run i floored it and spun REALLY hard (had 21psi in rear). the second run i decided to feather it to get a better launch (17psi in rear) and spun just as hard. it was a little windy, about 5-10mph head wind but i dont think it would make that big of a difference. you think that the little hp that the electric fan got me and the high stall coverter caused the suspension mods to have little effect. $500 worth of suspension mods and my 60' didnt change. i have some horrible 40,000 mile tires that get no traction. the car pulled hard through first and second. 3rd was ok but no as good as 1 and 2. i tried to do a burn out the second run but what the hell good is that when i only have 1 wheel drive. my trac loc has long since worn out.
heres my problem on all of that. im still running 2.73's!!!! i have a set of 3.73's but that will kill me even more. i also have a limited slip but it seems that without slicks, i have no reason to go back to the track.
so after two sh*tty runs i decided to just go home and lick my wounds but no! i get on the freeway and begin to drive home, at 100mph i changed lanes and hit a HUGE suit case on the freeway. a big black thing that was with it and a plastic back flew out the back i thought that was all of it. NOPE!!! 50miles later i get off the freeway to hear this God awfull sound coming from my car. "what now" runs through my mind as i pull into the best western to check it out. the damn suit case was still under there!!! and it was huge and had wheels on it. it melted all over my h-pipe. it took me and my g/f some time to pull it all out. then to make it even worse, there was no money in it[:@] who the f*ck goes on vacation and takes no money. so we dumped the suitcase in the parking lot and here i am, sitting on at my computer mad
sorry for the long post but i had to vent on some one.

Dood!?
You just up n dumped the suit case?!
Seems like a godsend there.
"Hay, ****ty day at the track? Here's a suitcase!"
But your suspension stuff isnt going to help much with horrid tires...
Tires are like the biggest time changer there is

As for your times, what was the air like? Things like temp. Humidity, and altitude density can make comparing one day to another very difficult (heck it changes from morning to afternoon) If you are going to try to compare times from different days you need to start keeping a log of this info each time you to the track. Don't get too down. On another note it seems like you have some other problems you need to take care of. Are your control arms adjustable? Is your pinion angle set correctly? Get your posi unit fixed, get those 3.73's put in and buy some drag radials***NOTE*** tires are biggest single improvement you do. Don't bother with a slick you are nowhere near the power level, in fact a DR might give you a better ET anyway.

Bad tires, no good burnout and you spun horrible and ran 2.3 60'.

JD thats a good idea about the log. the weather was cool. cooler then last time. very windy though. as far as the arms go, no, none are adjustable....sorth off. the uppers are stock legnth. the mega bites are sort of adjustable. they have two settings; 85% more traction and 120% more. i have it set on 85 cause thats what they recomemd for a car that drives on the street. says that the lower traction level will laster longer while with the 120 you get a lot of traction but it doesnt last long. inverse relationship or something. in other words, little traction for a long time or lots of traction for a short time.
i think i may cash in some of my vacation hours so i can get some tires. who has the best deals? summit maybe?
to make it worse, an older lifted suburban ran 12.69 on off-road tires
OB, there was no reason to keep the suitcase, my exhaust melted it and now there are large tar like stains on my exhaust that are going to smell every time i drive

RE: what happened!?!?!?!?!?
Don't run a slick, get a drag radial, they last longer, can be street drivin and will give you all the tracktion you need, I have a buddy with a NMRA Factory Stock Fox body that pulls 1.6x 60' on a BFG dr (look at my sig , I pulled a 1.86 60' on BFG dr's no that its all that great of a run)As for the best price check out Tire Rack or Dicount Tire, they both have online sites. As for size, try to get the stock size, if you go to a 28'( I run a 28' or 29' inch tire on cars that have 4.56-4.88 gears) tire it will hurt your effective rear end gear ratio (it would be like putting a 3.23 in). On eof the best $200 I ever spent was on a mini weather station, it gives all sorts of info like density altitude(this is the most important function),temp, humidity, wind speed among other things. Good luck and keep us informed.
