Default Convertible top

I'm sure this is kind of a dumb question, but I just got my first Mustang recently, a 2005 convertible, and was wondering if it issafe to takea convertiblethrough your standard car wash? I feel stupid asking but I couldn't find anything in the manual and being my first convertible I'm not sure what's the best way to get it cleaned. I'd hate to be halfway through the car wash and spring a leak!! Any input other convertible owners out there can give would be much appreciated, thanks!

Thanks lol. I made the mistake of parking under a tree at work the other day, and let's just say the local bird population took it upon themselves to give my car a new paint scheme.

i dont like taking mine through the car wash. i have a couple of spots that will leak a little. im not sure if the 05+ leak or not. but then again, i wouldnt take any car i own through an automatic car wash, all you are doing is asking for swirls in your paint. its not going to rip a hole in your top or anything though.

What color is your car? I avoid car washes!!! Wash it yourself if you can (IMO). The only time I would run mine thru a car wash is if it was below freezing, someone had just poored a vat of acid on the car and I couldn't get home. If you have a light colored car you will probably never notice the swirls and small scrathes a car wash leave. Plus, the guys they have drying the cars are not the "brightess bulbs in the outfield" if you know what I mean.

It's silver. I agree with you though 07cspony, I have always preferred to wash my car's myself, but there is just so much bird crap on it lol. Well, at least I didn't have the top down.....

Hey, the important thing is to keep it clean...even if you have to use a car wash. I've never run my Vert thru a car wash so I don't know if it would leak under high water pressure or not. Mine has never leaked a drop during heavy rain at highway speeds or just sitting still. Enjoy the car!!
