Default 91 starter/ignition help

I have a 1991 LX 5.0 . My battery keeps draining while the car sits.
I can jump the car and it starts ok but when I turn the key to the "off"
position the starter keeps trying to crank the engine. There has been a "catch"
in the starter for a while - like a dead spot. Could there be a short somewhere
or could it be the starter itself? I don't know hwere to start. FYI - the alternator
is fairly new and I thinks it's ok. Please help !

Thanks

Sounds like you might have a bad ignition switch. Ford did a recall on them, because they claimed it could catch on fire. Good luck

if the battery drains while it sits theres most likely a short somewhere. other than that probably the ignition switch
