Default 8.8 Pinion depth shims

I just received a set of 373 gears that a friend of mine installed in his 8.8 rearend. The pinion still has the bearing and shim pressed on it with only 500 miles on them. My question is will that pinion depth shim and bearing be close to right in my 8.8 for the pinion depth setting? I had 327's in mine?

Default RE: 8.8 Pinion depth shims

The setup came out of the 8.8 and is going into an 8.8? What brand of gears are they? I changed my 3.73's to 4.10's and the pinion shims I replaced ended up being the same thickness for correct pinion depth. I would always measure and re-measure and then and use some marking compound just to verify that everything is correct. Gears are a pain to do and it would really suck to have to redo them!
