Tko 600 trans. Proble..
Hey guys, its me again. I installed a tko600 trans on my 02 mustang about a year or so ago, ever since I got the car back when ever I'm rolling forward thenI come to a stop to put the car in reverse the gear grinds and it's hard to put it in reverse; it goes in but the gear grinds before it goes in. Also some times it's hard to put it in gear (1st) shifting is ok but I think that the gears should go in easier. Any idea what the proble might be? Any info will be greatly appreciate it. Thank you

RE: Tko 600 trans. Proble..
you shuld always pop it into 5th then reverse so it wont grind, i got used to doing it with my T-5 and ive always done it with my TKO600 since i put it in. And yes it is tougher to shift in regular steet driving but at 6K rpm's it hard to miss a gear with it. You might want to look into anaftermarket shifter if daily driving it is getting annoying. But without actually feeling to for myself i dont know if its a normal thing or not, if you feel its not id look into your clutch adjustment

Well I guess it's a common problem with them trans. About the shifting during normal driving I did notice that it shifts faster when the engine is at a higher rpm's I haven't had a chance to take to the track and test it there. I did put an aftermarket shifter it's a B&M short throw shifter it's ok but to me it feels like the gear are not going is as smooth as they should. I'll check the clutch adjustment. I almost forgot, I do have a dual friction high performance clutch I don't know if that might be the issue. Thanks for the help.

well the reverse thing isnt really a "problem" its just not a synchronized gear so it will grind if not put into another gear first. But the trans is stiffer than stock its supposed to be that way. I have a centerforce dual friction also and itsamazingso i know its not the cluch because i had a king cobra in it before and what a pain in the *** that clutch was. But yeah check the clutch adjustment it will def. help

RE: Tko 600 trans. Proble..
Thank you so much for the help. By the way very nice caryou got there, I hope I can get mine in that same hp range someday, for now I have spent all my money on the trans, clutch, exhaust and gears. With the car being so newer it's very expensive to get parts and do thing on your own with out the proper tools an equipment. Thank you again.

well at least your doing things the smart way. WAY too many people will throw a blower on their stock car then complain about how they blew up their trans/clutch/rear end/etc. and dont have money to fix it. Looks like your starting off with a very solid foundation to build up on
