I just finishedreplacing my 2006 witha 351 in my '66 with my dad's help. Engine runs good, but it dies when I put the automatic in drive. It acts like a manual with the clutch not releasing. If I lift the rear end and put it in drive without my foot on the brake, no problem. As soon as I put the brake on, it stops the engine. We put a new torque convertor (2400 stall). I'm anxious to get this done as there are only 4 weeks of high school left and I want to show it off. Any ideas? Thanks,Jesse

 

A little more detail. We put a "new" used C4 tranny in it. It was suppose to work, but don't know for sure.

 

Possibly front pump problem.

 

I assume this is a pump within the tranny? Sounds like a rebuild. Anyway to confirm this that you know of?
