TIRE EXPERTS HELP HERE PLEASE (and center caps)
Hey ya'll, well I'm about to buy some Cobra R rims from the tirerack (unless ya'll have better advice) and I have a tire question. I've heard that H-rated tires last longer and provide a comfier ride than the higher rated tires like Y and Z. Since I don't drive over 100, is there any drawback to putting these cheaper tires on my 2000 GT? I've laso heard that the higher rated tires (like Y and Z) grip better, but you would think that softer tires grip better, so how does that make sense?
Then about center caps, does anyone know a good source for the ones with the red "R," and are they easy to swap myself? Thanks!

then get a set of kumhos v rating as thier fairly cheap or a set of falkens..the ride it a lil more stiff as the sidewall of the vr's is siiffer...something you might want..

speed ratings are useless. They are only usefull for safety if your planing on reaching XXX amount of speed. you need to compare ratings of traction, temp and wear. those numbers are represented like this
Tread wear. a numerical value. The higher the number the longer thet last. If you want them to last long look for something 400 or higher.
traction. Letter value of AA, A, B, C. C being the worst traction and AA being the best
Temp letter value of A, B, C. C being the worst temp resistence and A being the best.
For street tires generaly you want traction AA, Temp A with the highest number of treadwear that you can find.

OK just a few more questions, thanks for all the help I'm almost there. Will '94-'99 OE Cobra R Wheels fit just fine on my 2000 GT? And will Nitto 555R's in 245/40/17 fit on a 17 X 9 Cobra wheel? Last question, I know the Nitto's are good, but at a 100 treadwear rating they must wear out real fast! What do ya'll think? Thanks a bunch!
