whats wrong...bucking/hesitation!?
OK so so far we figured out with the scanner that no were no computer problems. We didnt get a chance to put the old clutch cable back on. HOpefully well do that tomorrow. thanks
Could still be the clutch cable. If it's not fully engaging it could be slipping and heating up over the that 30 mile trip. The only other things I could things I could think of would be totally non-clutch related. Such as temperature sensor, MAF, etc., but you didnt' mess with those when you did your clutch.
yeah and my friend checked the computer with his scanner. Everythings OK. Im going to drive it to work and back tomorow and then itll be sitting over the weekend. Monday were putting the clutch cable in. Ill let u guys know what happens....
ok, well we figured out the problem is NOT the clutch. THere is a "miss" according to my two friends. We were able to take it for a pretty long ride. Unfortunately the miss isnt consistant. We took out two spark plugs and they were kinda whitish grey signifiying it was running lean. But my friend remembers hearing that mustangs tend to do that. So now we are unsure if its the coils, the injectors, or something else. It mainly happens at 2500 rpms and under. Any ideas? Remember, the car has 28k miles on it and its a 99. ITs been garage kept, but it has sat a long time.
If it's sat for while...did you check your fuel filter?
You said it was fine when it was cold, but worse when it warmed up... On second thought...
Check your MAF. Mine kind of acted that way when I disconnected the MAF for some diagnostic over a few days. Almost exactly like what your describing. Low RPM's were a bitch. Downshifting could be an interesting experience!! I don't know why I didn't think of it before, I guess because we were so focused on the clutch. I'm just guessing, but it's worth a shot.

alright, i think i have some good news. We changed teh fuel filter and that wasnt the problem but its good that we changed it anyway. Before messing around with replacing injectors and all that, we decided to see if maybe the injectors were just gummed up from sitting so often. Well, in all my cars i have mixed either lucas fuel treatment or marvel oil in with my gas just as preventative maintenance. I know it helps lube the top end but as far as cleaning my top end and making my engine run better or smoother, NOTHING i ever put in my gas tank actually helped what it claimed to help....until now. My friend works at a Nissan dealership and he got me two cans of this stuff (ill find out the name later) that he put in my gas tank. It made his 4banger mustang which ran like crap (one of his 4 stangs) run like new. At first, i didnt believe it, but we mixed two cans in with half a tank of gas. One can is supposed to treat a tank. Anyways, the hesitation is 90% + gone!!!!!!!!! woohooo. After we put it in, i ran the car pretty hard, but it only seemed to help a little. Well, i guess after sitting a whole night with the treatment exposed to it, it loosened everything up. Not only does it much better as far as hesitation, but it idles as smooth as butter. It also seems like its a bit quicker but that might just be in my head. My friend is going to get another 2-3 cans today and im going to give it another super strong treatment mixed with super gas. Hopefully this mornings drive to school wasnt a fluke and everything really worked.
btw, when i had my explorer, the guys in those forums referred to this stuff called "sea foam" as kinda the miracle potion to clean up the inside of the motor really well. Any of you guys heard of this? Anyone used it? Where can i get it? marine store? Thanks for all your efforts.

Be careful with how much of that stuff you put through your motor. It's hard on your plugs and o2 sensors. After you are done "cleaning your engine" you might want to take a plug out to see if it's covered in ash deposits (a typical side affect of running cleaners through your motor).
