Default Which oil do you use?

I was just wondering which oil you guys use on your stangs. Since my mustang has minor modifications, I don't use royal purple or red line oils. I was thinking of using castrol syntec. Do you guys recommend it? What do you suggest?

In my 79 351w I use conventional valvoline 10w/30 and a fram oil filter for the engine in my mustang it doesn't need the synthetic. But in my 02 ss camaro i run a wix filter and valvoline synpower full synthetic. What is done to your mustang motor? The only way you need to get into royal purple or red line is if you have a blower or nos and race the car every sat night. IF you use synthetic it might be to much of a lube and might cause you to spin a bearing {i seen it done in a dodge charger once}

I've heard and personally seen cars with oil burn problems after the owner switched to synthetic oil. If you do use synthetic oil, change it at regular 5000km intervals. Synthetic oil compared to mineral oil will pick up just as many contaminants in an engine, and letting oil go for 10000km is just not very healthy. Not to mention the other things that get neglected due to long oil change intervals ie, grease points, filter changes and general fluid checks like rearend, tranny and PS fluid.

Personally I use the recommended 10W30 Quakerstate oil along with a bottle of Lucas oil stabilizer.
The lucas is almost as stringy as chainsaw oil witch coats and holds onto engine parts very well (especially valve train parts).

What it comes down to is personal preference.

I dont suggest any type of synthetic if your engine has any large amount of miles on it, if it doesnt leak now it most lickly will if you put a synthetic in it. I run valvoline 10w-30 on my freshly rebuilt engine. I would stay away from penzoil, castrol, cheaper quacker state oils, and cheap no-names. On some new fords using a cheap oil or evan an oil like penzoil can void manufacturers warenty.
