Where does that spring go?

I just picked up a 2004 GT at an auction. The spare tire and jack were all over the truck. Where does that little spring go? I cant seem to figure it out. Does it belong to the spare? I apologize in advance for any really stupid questions. Thanks!

Yea I think it goes between the jack and the tire when clamping down the spare, to keep the stuff from rattling on a bumpy road
