Shocks or Springs? bumpy ride
i have a 90 gt, and it sucks on bumps, even the smallest bumps or cracks in the road. I was wondering what i need to restore ride quality. I want the smoothest ride possible. Please Help
when i brought my car from the old owner it had a eibach loweringkit on it... And it rode like what you're explaining. SoI took it to a shop got new shocks, and springs (i think all monroe name brand stuff at that time). It rode decent after thatbut it's a sports car w/ old technology keep that in mind. But after i got bit by the hp bug all that suspension stuff was thrown out for... Moroso springs, and Lakewood struts... All depends on what you're going for, and what you're willing to spend.
My personal experience is go with your stock springs, and thenMonroe Struts and Shocks and you'll get that smooth ride you're looking for.
But I'll bet if you get the cheapest Struts and Shocks and your local Auto Parts Store, you'll also get that smooth Cadillac ride you want.

softer and/or progressive rate springs.
larger aspect ratio tires. ie 60's vs 35's.
lower air pressure to manufacturer's recomendations for the tires and weight of the car.
variable rate shocks, like the ones edelbrock advertises.
the springs job is to keep the car off the pavement and provideadequate stability. the shock's job is to keep the tires on the ground. without good shocks, your car's springswill do just that --- spring/bounce. overly stiff shocks can make the ride worse on rough roads.

my car is lowered, maybe that is why the ride is rough and bumpy? Also i think they are cut springs not custom ones. Will stock height springs restore ride qaulity?
Yes thats why its a bad ride... and yes stock springs fill feel more comfy...
Lowered my truck 3/4 drop--- is rides like a tractor, just cause of my 22"s and the drop kit.
Look into monroe, Gabriel (think thats how you spell it), and moroso springs/shocks. Typically street/strip for moroso-springs, and Gabriel and Monroe make good shocks for the typical sedan/truck... You can also call your local Tire shop and i'm sure they could point in the right direction as far as parts and acc. for a better ride quality.
