Default CAI problems mac 3446

This is my first bolt on for a 96gt mustang v8.
It is a cai mac straight shot, everything seemed okay until I had no place to hook up the iat sensor
and the maf sensor wouldn't line up to the screw holes.
I had disconnected the - on battery and tried to run it for a half hour.
I tied the maf sensor in the hole with ty-wraps.
The car backfires, loss of power, won't idle right.
What am I missing? I have been looking around for similar problems and not much luck.

Do I need a different maf sensor that fits?
Change the tube that the maf sensor sits?
Thanks for looking....

Ugh called mac, they said it's not for my car, it was posted wrong on ebay so I have it for resale for a 02-04 part#3285.
If interested check ebay about a day left.
