what is a block plate for?

i have a 351w and c4 setup. do you have to run a block plate? whats the point of those things?

i've only seen them on big block mustangs w/ a lot of power. My buddy has 2- front block support plate, and rear and he has a 509bb w/ 2stgs of n20. All they are for is when the engine torques up, it doesn't twist or anything like that.... it's just an engine blockstabalizer- keeps it from moving around..

you dont need plates till you reach over 600rwhp
