what is this thing?

can someone tell me what this thing on the trunk is?

It looks like a an antenna. They use them for satelite radio and other transmitted signals it could also be from a early GPS. The satelite signals would be picked up by something that looked like that. Thats just was it looks like from that pic. A picture from a little further away could help determine further.

Satellite radio antenna on a S197 Mustang.

The only reason why I did NOT get satellite radio on my Mustang is because I did not want this ugly *** thing on my trunk lid.
