side scoops

Default side scoops

on the 94-98 series of mustangs the side scoops after the doors, there is a cover for the scoop and i was wondering if it had any effect or if it was just for looks?

I think he is talking about these. They are purely visual, they don't do anything for performance. They look sweet though.

On my '95 GT they are open at the other end into the wheel well, I was told that the air that goes through them is used to cool down the brakes so they don't get to hot, and for looks..

LOL, if you want to get technical....I guess you could say that they cool the brakes, they just said that to make you think the scoops are functional. Rushing air isn't going to cool the brakes that much, they are already being hit with air constantly. From the factorty they were just put on for show.

Probably if the salesman said that they cool the tire...thats a better explanation. I notice, when I was putting water into the side scoops the other day to wash them, it was coming out the other way and the openings point exactly to the tire thread. So I imagine, its made to cool the tire but like JonBeast said, the tires, breaks and everything are always bombarded with air when traveling so probably its like 95% looks, 5% functionality lol

lol well hey cooling the brakes sounds good to me, been thinkin about gettin them more for looks, but HEY IF THEY COOL THE BRAKES THAT MUCH MORE! THAN IM gettin them lol if u didnt notice part of that was sarcastic, but they look cool on some mustangs, thanks for the replys guys
