Default Solid Lifters

I have been thinking about getting solid lifters and then upgrading the camshaft.. but I had heard that solid liftesr need constant adjusting..wondering if this is true and if it is, what is the adjusting that needs to be done and is it worth it?

a soild lifter must be used with a soild cam...the adjusting is that the soild lifters have no adjustment by them slfves...like a hydralic...a soild cam will usally make more power ..they hit the rpm faster, but are harder on the valve train...use a good set of poly locks and stud grudles and they will be fine

You will need to adjust the valve lash more often, I used to run my valves every 2-3000 miles. As stated sbove you must also get a cam that is designed to be used with a solid lifter, you will need different springs, locks, retainers, push rods, studs and a girdle is a good idea as well. My advice is to wait until you can upgrade it as a system, and unless you are going for a max effort strip/street car stay with a hyd. cam.

You have to pop both valve covers off on a REGULAR basis and set the valve lash to compensate for wear, etc.. It's a lot of work and a pain in the (_|_) unless you have an otherwise noticeably modified engine to take advantage of the design. Solid lifters with the appropriate cam allow much steeper cam ramp angles so the valves can literally slap open & shut waaay faster than a hydraulic design could tolerate. If your compression is stock then solid lifters would be kinda overkill.
