Default Getting a tune?

New guy here.

Just curious if dyno shop places generally have the sct x3 or some other way of giving a tune and, or gear changecorrectionto a 03 GTAuto as I cannot afford one yet. If they do what kinda cost would I be looking at, and is it worth it on a stock car.

I did try todo a search, and got nothing.. I have been reading alot(thanks for the great forum!)and see differant opinions given on wether it is worth getting a tune or not on a stock car. Is it a bad idea to get a tune on a stock car, that may get mods in the near future?

Thanks for any replies.

i wouldn't say its a bad idea. but i would personally wait until i got exhaust, intake tube, and maybe a gear. then it would be wortha tune.

A sct tune on a stock GT auto will show a noticable gain. I got mine from Brenspeed and was pretty impressed. I got exhaust as my only Mod along with the Brenspeed 93 tune and run high 8's on a 1/8 mile track. As far as a true dyno from a shop i would wait till you get more mods.

Us "Torch Redders" gotta stick together. Anyway, I recently swapped in 4.10 gears and then got me an XCal 2 for my car to fix the speedo reading. I bought a 93 tune from Bama Chips and I am quite pleased with how much more alive the car feels now. I can definitely feel a little extra kick come on around 2500 RPM. Could I have gotten more out of my car with some dyno time and custom tune? Sure. With my mods would it be enough of a gain to justify the cost? I didn't believe so.

I have the SCT X3, and once you buy it, of course it is yours. No one says that you cannot"change" the settings for your personal tune, when you do upgrades. So go ahead and get one, and you will notice a few subtle changes with a new tune, but then do your upgrades (exhaust, intake, gears, etc.) and then you can cater the tune more specifically.

Enjoy the differences!

I have the x2, and am running a tune from VMP. Problem is around 2000 rpm I get a dead peddle. Really kicks in at around 3k, but untill then it's pretty lame. Any suggestions on spark retard settings? Also, what is Global spark?
