Default 3.8L V6 Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction- Error Code

I had my 3.8L V6 Mustang diagnosed and the error code that keeps coming up is, 'Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction'. I was looking around online and i saw people mentioning that Spark Plug Wires could effect the Camshaft Position Sensor. Something about Magnetic Disruption?? I replaced the Camshaft Positioning Sensor, and the code came up again. Anyways, just posting this to ask if anyone knows anything about this problem.

I've also heard it could be the alternator.

Any ideas?

Thanks

its not the alternator.... what kind of spark distribution are on those things? are they like the 4.6 mustangs with a coil pack per cylinder?

Did the computer get reset after swapping the sensor?

Did you replace just the black "cap" or did you replace the syncronizer too. If you just replaced the cap, pull it back off and make sure the 1/2 moon piece is still there (on the syncro)

After a day or 2 of driving, the Check Engine light turned off, but I still fear it may return...always seems to happen that way. But i'll just have to wait and see i guess.

I bought that new Camshaft Positioning Sensor for $43. I just replaced that sensor (black cap), not the whole syncronizer. Not so sure about the 1/2 moon piece you're talking about. There was a 1/2 CIRCLE piece in there that looked like, when it is running, would pass through the sensor (magnet).

As far as the Coil pack. It just has one set of 6 (v6) just above the Camshaft positioning sensor, which is where i heard that the magnetic field the Spark Wires can cause, being right above the cam sensor, would interfere.
