Default Is it Realllly worth it?

Is it really worth investing in a 01 Navigator 5.4L DOCH over a 98 or 99 Cobra 4.6L DOHC? I'll have 4500 bucks here in a few weeks and decide to finally buy and engine as well as a new transmission. After that comes IRS. butI wanna know if the extra displacement is really worth it?Would the HP per mod gains be higher than the 4.6?

I guess I have to ask you what you plan for your car??? Are you looking for a drag car, street car, road course car???? That will really dictate what you want. You can make plenty of power w/ the 4.6L, esp. a 4v like those Cobra engines. The 5.4 will have more torque vs. the 4.6. Are you looking at FI or nitrous??? It really depends. I decided for myself that I could achieve my goals by keeping the 4.6(2v at that). You can throw a 5.4 in there but you will have to watch the hood clearance, esp. if you throw a blower on there. Good luck either way.

I'm looking to build a street car by week and a drag car for the humid friday nights. Also a mild show car. I was thinking that popping the hood and having the 5.4 seemed different and would be quite the pretty site. I love the torque output.I hope to reachabout500to 600HP.After the engine, drivetrain, and suspension upgrades I am going to overhaul the body with new hood and a custom mold body kit to bring into the now. As much as you might wish to call it rice...I want to give it agressive hood scoops and some fender flares with fat tires to match up with the flares. Custom side skirts and bumpers with exhaust outlets and fog lights as well as a low profile spoiler and c pillar scoops.
