Charge wont hold, security system wont work
Well guys, long story short, my battery wont hold a charge more then a day or so (probibaly toast) however my security system doesent work. Shortley after charging the battery(so theres defenetley power in the system)if I press ether the Lock or Unlock button on my fob? the doors lock but there is no chirp from the car and no light from the LED in the console stating the system is armed. All the fuses are good and I dont know where the draw on the batterycould be coming from.
Help. Where should I look for the gremlen?

RE: Charge wont hold, security system wont work
-Is the battery newish? Doe's it hold a good voltage per Voltomoter(You can get a test at Autozone or Checker for free).
-Sounds like draining power. Search for any loose ground, power connections. Do you have a sound system? If so it may be your remote line, your Amp will run continuously without a remote line.
-If all else fails, you may need a new Alternator cable or alternator itself.

The battery is atleast two years old im sure it could even be oriognal.
No sound system, there was one in the car at one time before I had it (still has a big red wire attached to the battery terminal)
Its not the altinator. The car is parked in my driveway now and doesent go anywhere, the charge gets used up within about a day+ of sitting.

Im getting the car readyto goon the road again when gas hits $1.50 L as its at $1.32 L now.
What about the security system?

No. The Unlock/Lock FOB will stop working whenever your battery runs low so I doubt thats the problem.
I'd sugget just buying a new battery, sounds likes it just too old to hold a charge. You might want to disconnect that big red while(power cord) from the battery while your at it just to be safe.
Give it a shot and report back to us

Get a voltmeter and test the how much the alternator is putting out. Put the prongs on the battery while the car is idling, should be 13.5ish -14.6. If it is then your alternator is fine. Afterwards, wait 15 min or so and take the surface charge off the battery and test it, it should be 12.6. If its anything lower, its not charged right.
Also the connection could be bad

The battery is probably sulphated and won't take or hold a charge. This along with a high parasitic load will cause the problem you have.
These things DO actually work.

I've brought back several batteries with mine.Unless the battery has been ruined by freezing or total neglect they can be rejuvenated.

When its fully charged the car starts. Perhaps a day later itMIGHT turn over fast enough to start, after that the locks may work.
Il give the altinator a look at today and see what my multy meter tells me.

Try resetting your Key FOB to see if the system will recognize your FOB.
Turn the Key in your ignition to On 5 times.
On

^Like that.
Wait for your car to begin input, the locks will lock/unlock on their own to tell you the system is ready.
Next, press a button on your Key FOB to register the unit. Return the key to the Off position and your ready to rock.
