Speedometer Gear

I am buying some 3.73's and need to know what size speedo gear I need. I have a 96 3.8. What is the equation with tire size and all that yummy stuff?

I dont know of the equation you speak of, but I went with 4.10's and used the white 23 tooth speedo gear my tires are 25" tall and my speedo is still about 7mph off. Just to give you an idea.........

My car is a 97 Cobra with a t-45 tranny on 17s with 3.73 gears. When I changed the speedo gear it called for a 21 tooth gear. Hope this helps.
