bought an 83 stang GT, someone put another 302 from another car, a pre-1980 engine. Oil pan has the dipstick on the driverside going through the side of the pan, i'm having trouble finding an after market pan to fit the motor! any suggestions??? also where can i find the block casting # and where can i look it up at to find out what car this engine originaly came in??

 

Lots of aftermarket pans have that provision. Try Canton or Champ. Cruise through the Summit Racing web site.

The casting number is on a flat pad above the starter. It can be real difficult to make those numbers out, so don't plan on just a quick look and reading them.
