Default First oil change

Have put about 2500 miles on the car since we picked it up, just got back from a 600+ mile trip to San Diego and I am wanting to change the oil and filter. Any recommendations on oil type or brand?(syn or non syn?) I dont know what has been put in it before, has about 54k on the clock now.

Thanks for any replies.

if its had syn in it keep doing syn. i believe if you put syn in a motor thats had non syn it its whole life you might find some oil leaks popping up. thats what ive bean told anyway. if you go non syn i recomend castrol gtx...

Anyway to tell if its syn thats in it now or not? I assume the dealership probably changed it sometime before we bought it, but again no idea what they would have put in it..

Any particular filter brand?

i personally like fram with the grippers on it. syn will be like water when it comes out(still brown though). reg oil is more like syrup. if the dealer changed it they probably used cheap penzoil... not syn.

Here's a link to an oil filter study.

I tried to post a link to bobistheoilguy but it ain't working today for some reason.Try googling bobistheoilguy and see if it works later. They have more oil related experience than you can probably use.
