Default GT versus Mach I

Okay guys, I just noticed that the designation of my Mustang varies pending on which set of documentation I'm looking at. Some of it lists my Mustang as a GT other pieces of documentation list it as a Mach I. I'm a total newb when it comes to these things and don't know the difference between the two. Is there a difference? I am not sure if this is important but I do like having my ducks in a row (Ducks to be installed in Mustang come December) when it comes to accurate documentation of what is mine. So, what is the easiest way to tell?

Thank you to all who post.

big difference google 2004 mach 1 and then 2004 GT

mach one came with a shaker scoop that comes through the hood, as well as a 4.6 liter 32 valve DOHC motor that is similar to the 2001 cobra motor. it makes around 305 hP

where as the GT only has a SOHC setup and makes 260 horspower and has a cheesy fake hood scoop.

they also have different wheels and stripe package.

if the car says GT on the side thats an indicator which one you have

if the stripes near the rocker panel say mach 1 then you probably have a mach 1

the trunk lid also has the model differention.

if you dont know what you have, you have a GT

if you had a Mach 1 youd know it.

you may have a Mach 460 stero system in your car. this is not a Mach 1 item just a sound system option on all mustangs.

Thanks man! I got the cheesy fake hood scoop as well as several other things mentioned. Like I said, not very good with cars. If it is a computer I can tear it up no problems. Time to make a few calls and get some things documented correctly. I was fairly certain it was a GT, just needed someone to set me straight though so when I do go complaining I can say it with confidence!

That aside, anyone need their laptop fixed? I'm bored. [&:]

its cool, i used to have a 2001 GT convertible.

GTs are more than enough for evevery driving. a gt is more than enought to get into trouble with.

Don't remind me. Driving back from my parents (3 hour trip) another Mustang GT and I were playing what I think was a game of 'tag' on the highway. It was one of those times in the week when traffic on it was practically non existent. Before I realized it I was going 110 to 120 as this guy and I were playing. He had a similar color and body style but no stripes like me. Good thing the cops don't bother to patrol that highway during those times. Never had any traffic tickets, don't need to start.

His may have 40th anniversary badges on it since it's an 04. Plus the interior is different on a Mach 1 vs a GT. I think Mach 1 speedo goes to 160 or something like that. Biggest and most expensive difference, however, is the 4v motor vs the 2v as he said before. Is it an auto or a stick?

Is an auto. I wanted a stick but no used ones on the lot with a stick. (Well, there was an 01 Bullitt but that's another story). The speedo on this GT goes to 160 I think. Not sure (sorry, memory very bad, unless I wrote it down I won't remember), most the time I drive like a nun and go 45 all over town. May just take a picture of of the interior. It is going to change soon anyhow so I need a 'before' picture.

well my GT speedo goes to 150 so if your goes to 160 you might have a mach one. not all have the paint job some are solid. you can always look up the VIN number and find out everything you would ever want to know about your cars birth maybe it was made in mexico....

If you had a mach 1 you would know because everything says mach. If mach is not on ur car, its mostlikly not a mach, just a gt.
