Default Brake System

Hey, there. I am new here and I have a question about my brakes.

I have recently upgraded my tire and rim size to an 18 in. I was wondering if I should upgrade to a bigger brake system as well to help my braking.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a lot.

it would be nice to upgrade but its not neccessary.

i have 18s with the stock brakes and my braking is fine but it could be better.

Ok. I think I will upgrade anyways because my braking is pretty weak. Do you recomend any size kits?

Brembo If you have the cash. If your cash straped you can always go around to the local junk yards looking for a wrecked cobra.

Be nice to know the year/model(cobra,GT,base?) of your car as well to make better recomendations.

I am a little cash strapped. Sorry I didn't provide the car info.
It is a 2000 Mustang Base 3.8 V6

Would you happen to know the stock size brake system?

V6 got the same as the GT.

A good upgrade for you would be the stock Cobra/Mach1/Bullitt set up. It's 13 inch front rotors, upgraded calipers and brake hoses for the front. They can be found new for about $350 and will be more than enough to stop the V6. You'll be very happy.

Is your braking weak because there is something wrong? Make sure everything is working before upgrading to big brakes. I have 18's with stock brake size, but I upgraded the pads (Hawk HPS Street) and rotors and vastly improved my braking without breaking the bank.

To be honest. My Calipers are shot. So I have decided to just upgrade the entire system, and a question that I was faced with was whether or not to go bigger because of my tire and rim size. So no matter what I have to replace something. I do a lot of canyon driving. So, that is something I have to concider.

Do you guys recomend any sites?

like lilroush said cobra/mach1 brakes would be a greatupgrade for a V6 lots of stopping power i would check for totaled ones then you would get it cheap and only have to replace the pads maybe. i know americanmuscle sells aftermarket brake systems im sure theres lots of other sites but i havent looked for them online so.
