Default OBD 1 Codes - Can I pull them myself ?

Just purchased an 1994 mustang with the 3.8L v6 and 5 spd manual, The check engine light is on and id like to get this looked into before i do the emissions test incase its emissions related, I was wondering is there anyway I cna count the flashes in the dash then look at the chart to see what the code means

does anyone know how to do this without a puller?

thanks
take care
Dave

i know back in my honda days you could pull the carpet and count the blinks like you said. not sure on mustangs....pull your carpet back on your passenger side and see if theirs a light blinking on your ecu. if not then get a tuner or you could borrow a buddies if you know someone.

You can read codes yourself using a multimeter with OBD-I but that doesn't matter in this case because the 3.8 used OBD-II even though the 5.0 that year was still OBD-I.

+1

in 94:

5.0s = OBDI
3.8s = OBDII
